We saw so-called Guringai Tribal Link make its entry to public consciousness by threatening legal action against Local Councils that did not recognise their Authority. We saw Neil Evers wasting no time at all in courting the media now that after half a century he finally had something interesting remotely related to himself (that he could publicly disclose), and Laurie Bimson joining the fold after a phone call from cousin Bob Waterer. We saw the codification of a racist rulebook that given authoritative control of the organisation and it’s finances to the Directorship, who have powers to censure Members behaviors, at all times, and in all aspects of their lives. This Culturally unsafe document clearly shows the group’s narrow interest, presenting a settler/colonizing focus on self and self-interest, in stark contract to genuine Aboriginal Culture of People and Country, always.
2009
Guringai Tribal Link Aboriginal Corporation appoints Laurie Bimson as a director.
At the tender age of 57, Laurie discovered that he does in fact have some Aboriginal Ancestry mixed in there. On the back of this Laurie now goes by Uncle Laurie, and in addition to holding a position as Director of Guringai Tribal Link Aboriginal Corporation, Laurie is the owner and operator of Guringai Tours Pty Ltd, which is not an Aboriginal Corporation despite it’s misleading website claiming the business is Guringai Aboriginal Tours.
As if receiving a phone call from cousin Bob Waterer were a winning lottery ticket, Mr Bimson wasted no time setting himself up at a Cultural attaché between the Black and White worlds despite having not a shred of actual Cultural standing, or understanding.
Mr Bimson declared himself Aboriginal, declared himself an Authority, and has declared himself a Senior Man and an Elder, and an Uncle; not something Aboriginal People EVER traditionally do. To be fair he is very new at this.
On 17 September 2009, Tracey-Lee Howie is interviewed by Rob Willis for the Rob and Olya Willis folklore collection.
It is worth remembering that Tracey-Lee is not related in any way to my genuine confirmed Aboriginal family descendants of Bungaree (& Matora). During this fascinating interview Tracey-Lee Howie (nee Robinson) confirms that Warren Whitfield is “the brainchild behind” of Guringai Tribal Link Aboriginal Corporation.
Thankfully Tracey-Lee gives an account of why the pseudo-Aboriginal Culture of their group has the appearance of a hodgepodge chimera of racist fables and non-Aboriginal Peoples misunderstanding:

Tracey-Lee expands upon the reason for the creation of Guringai Tribal Aboriginal Corporation:
What Tracey does not mention is ‘all them scraps’ are the fictional account of her Uncle Warren Whitfield; and her family assembling something out of them is another way of describing fraud. Tracey gives something of an account of how she discovered her ‘famous’ relative (whom Warren Whitfield learned existed in 1997).

Tracey-Lee discusses an alleged ‘family fable’ involving the supposed origin of a racist slur, and attempts to claim the term is not a slur to “her people (Warning, HIGHLY RACIST CONTENT).
Over the course of the meandering 41 minute interview, Ms. Howie reveals that her Grandmother was not Stolen, and for several generations since the 1800s
family members were able to marry, seek employment, keep their children, and experience all the advantages of White Privilege.
Ms Howie discloses that her family did not experience the removal of children by government authorities, since the time of Charlotte Ashby. Ms Howie goes further, detailing how from birth until the age of 17, Ms Howie was “not described on paper” as Aboriginal.
Tracey-Lee Howie describes ‘discovering’ her supposed Ancestry her mid 20’s.
Makes the bold claim that she is currently embroiled in “tribal war”.
And bemoans the fact many Aboriginal people see right through her humbug:

The interview takes a more disturbing turn when Tracey-Lee is asked of her conviction:
As for the rest, you really need to hear it yourself, and it would be unkind of me to comment further, except to say that this pseudo-Aboriginal person is clearly unwell.
If her claims of being guided by voices included those of Socrates, Napoleon, or Elvis, perhaps non-Aboriginal People would share our concerns step up and do something.
For the last two decades these people have been in every traditionally non-Aboriginal space they can squeeze in to, speaking as Aboriginal People, representing Aboriginal People, when all they do is steal as much as they can from Aboriginal People. Culture and History, to claim as their own.
We can now see further confirmation that Warren Whitfield cobbled together racialized scraps of pseudo-Aboriginal Culture that bare only the most superficial of similarity to genuine Aboriginal People, Culture, or Country. This organisation is black cladding at it’s worst, cloaked in stolen Aboriginal garb, and this has been a matter of public record since day 1.
This interview offers us a deeply disturbing perspective on the evidence gathered to date. Ms Tracey-Lee was feeling lost and disconnected, until her uncle Warren Whitfield seemed to present a means to belong, to be relevant, and to make sense of the voices/urges that seemed beyond conscious control.
As a neurodivergent person, I know all too well the loneliness, the sense of being a perpetual outsider in a world that only seems to recognise/validate the neurotypical, or those that can mask their true selves enough to pass as neurotypical. These feelings are not unique, regardless of how strongly they are felt, and they are 100% not indicative of Aboriginality.
Tracey-Lee has very clearly built her identity, her sense of self, and her value as a person, to the fictional tribe invented by Warren Whitfield. That Tracey-Lee was enabled and encouraged in this direction rather than given the genuine love, support and medical care that would enable her to one day self-actualise without the crutch of dominating her fictious tribe is a tragedy.
It’s beyond the scope of this endeavor to identify the voices only Tracey-Lee hears; I can only say with certainty that it is not my Ancestors.

The publication of Dr Geoff Ford’s Darkiñung recognition ; identifying the aborigines to the west and north of Sydney.
A more detailed look at Dr Ford and this ‘research’ can be found here.
Dr Ford’s racist attempt at research contains the word Guringai 39 times – each time associated with an unsubstantiated claim made by Mr Warren Whitfield.
Not once is there a reference, citation, or footnote explaining how and/or why Dr Ford is even aware of the so-called Guringai.
This is as close as Dr Ford get to explaining his repeated assertions that the People of Broken Bay are one and the same with some so-called modern descendants.
Dr Ford never explains who they are, how/why he believes they are descendants of any Aboriginal person, let alone how/why he believes they are descendants of Bungaree.
Not once.
It is a glaring omission amidst repeated claims dressed as fact, to not once mention where the information came from.
Severe academic misconduct, or maybe something else?
On February first 2010, Tracey Howie loges a Notification of a change to
corporation officers’ details, informing the Registrar that Mr Dennis Foley and Mrs Michelle Kulk were no longer Directors of Guringail Tribal Link.
Following the path laid out by Warren Whitfield, Laurie Bimson positions himself as a Cultural Authority, and starts an Aboriginal eco tourism business named GURANGAI TOURS PTY LTD, and retiring North Shore Fabrication Pty Ltd. As for what Laurie was previously fabricating, this author has no comment.
Mr Warren Whitfield’s false narrative reaches the Academy with the publication of Dr Geoff Ford’s Darkiñung recognition ; identifying the aborigines to the west and north of Sydney.
I’ve written an addendum to this piece which looks more deeply at Dr Ford and his thesis.
Spoiler warning: At no point does Dr Ford provide any citation, reference, notation for the assertions peppered through his thesis, echoing Warren Whitfield’s false narrative. From Bungaree being Guringai, to Guringai being a language of the area, if it’s nonsense Warren Whitfield has said relating to his ‘Guringai’, Dr Ford will write it as fact, without ever naming a source, citation, or refence.
Evidence appears of pictures taken from what may be family gathering, later given fictionalised Aboriginal significance. There is no digital trace of a ‘Guringai Elders Tribal Link‘ ever existing outside of 2 results.

The following video, recorded on the 9th of August 2011 is of Dr Keith Vincent Smith speaking on Bungaree. What caught my attention right towards the end Dr Smith recalls his discussion with pseudo-Aboriginal man Warren Whitfield regarding Whitfield supposed ancestral connection to my Ancestor Bungaree.

Neil Evers continues his media blitz with a humble profile piece by the man himself.
Neil Evers repeats the false claim, began in 2001 by Mr Warren Whitfield that Bungaree was a ‘Guringai man.’ At this point in time, Neil Evers claimed descent from Bungaree, was that “(H)e was the leader of the tribe my ancestors were with.”
